John Lewis, the nation’s favourite retailer at Christmas, are hoping to expand their influence into the summer months too. The company’s new National Treasures summer marketing campaign, featuring the witty and colourful artwork of British illustrator Paul Thurlby, is celebrating everything great about a British summer.
“There’s nothing quite like the Great British summer,” says Peter Cross, director of customer experience at John Lewis. “It’s the time when ice creams by the seaside, long afternoons in packed-out parks and grabbing an umbrella (just in case) become our national pastimes.”
“I hope these scenes I created really epitomise the nation’s most treasured quintessential moments, traditions and humour – all integral to our national identity,” adds Paul Thurlby. “I’m looking forward to seeing the illustrations come to life in shops across the country this summer, and hope they make people smile.”

National Treasures – Promotional Products
Promotional products will play a big part in the National Treasures summer initiative. A collection of limited edition gifts is now being sold by John Lewis.
