Award-winning design agency Jones Knowles Ritchie (JKR) have produced this exciting new pizza box packaging for Domino’s in the UK. The bold, colourful redesign instantly shows stuffed crust lovers that they’ve not just ordered a pizza, they’ve ordered a Domino’s pizza!
JKR’s minimalist and “more shareable” red and blue design was the result of research that discovered that 96% of all Domino’s pizzas are sold in pairs – a result of the takeaway’s popular Buy One, Get One Free deals.
“We wanted to celebrate Domino’s distinctive and unique brand character by making it bold, simple and charismatic,” say JKR on their website. “We started by removing all the generic category communication from the boxes, focusing only on what Domino’s owned: its once iconic red and blue domino logo.”
While being a deceptively simple design, no detail has been left to chance. The pizza boxes are printed using high quality inks to ensure the heat from a pizza doesn’t mess up the new design. The boxes are also 100% recyclable, another important factor in packaging design for today’s more eco-aware society.
