The fact is, there are more job vacancies than available candidates to fill them. A personnel vacuum has formed and only employers offering the most rounded, holistic packages are keeping and attracting new talent.

The anxiety of moving jobs has subsided. The cost of switching jobs is down significantly. The stigma of CV employment gaps is no more.

Over a third of people questioned cited the reasons for leaving their last job were due to a lack of care from management and insufficient support for employee’s health and wellbeing.

People know there is a labour shortage so are confident they can get a job anywhere, anytime. They have seen family, friends and colleagues depart jobs, survive, and thrive.

With the average cost to recruit a member of staff at approximately £3500, not to mention the disruption of onboarding and training, employers are looking to protect their most valuable assets at all costs.

But a decent remuneration and benefits package is no longer enough. Candidates now expect flexibility, inclusion, meaningful work, access to resources, career advancement and support of health and wellbeing.

As a result, the use of promotional merchandise for employee gifting is up a staggering 300% year on year. Yet still less than half of companies polled choose branded products to engage and reward their employees. 

Employee retention gifting can be simple or complicated, low-cost or lavish, spontaneous or strategized. It can communicate a message, or not. It can reward an action, or not. It should just make the recipient feel included, appreciated, recognised, and respected.
